Trevor Brents worked closely with the Jenik family, who live in Chandler Heights, AZ to help realize and expand their vision for their dream backyard. In less than a year, the 3D video walk through of this design has earned more than 350,000 views on our Facebook page!
Below is an interview with the Jenik family. They give advice that will be useful to anyone thinking about building a pool. Enjoy!
Why is having a pool important to you and your family?
Having a pool is important to our family for several reasons:
- It serves as a great backdrop for family and friends to spend quality time together in a relaxing environment.
- It provides an avenue to escape the stifling Arizona summer heat.
- It is a fun way to stay active and get exercise.
- It is a beautiful addition to our backyard and provides great views from the house.
- It provides a place for us to unwind and escape from the stresses of day to day life.
Which features were most important to you in designing your pool?
We had a fairly extensive list of features that we wanted to incorporate into our design, but the two that we were most excited about was a baja shelf with a pergola covering and a sunken kitchen with a swim up bar and media wall.
Our designer, Trevor, really helped us to flesh out these concepts and came up with some truly unique and beautiful additions.
What advice would you offer to those just starting the pool building process?
The primary advice that I would give would be to ask lots of questions during the design process and to be open to suggestions.
We spent a lot of time corresponding with our designer and getting information on all of the options available to us. Trevor brought up lots of ideas that we had never considered and many of these new ideas ended up being some of our favorite aspects of the pool once completed.
An example of this was Trevor’s suggestion to use a darker black finish for the inside of the pool. At first we thought this was a strange idea, but we asked Trevor to show us some examples and really fell in love with the color. The end result is something that is beautiful and very unique.
Another example of this is the custom water features that Trevor was able to design into our pool such as the pergola rain sheer and the three fountain curve. We had never considered items like this when we first came to Presidential, but they give the pool much more character and we are extremely happy with how the came out.

We chose Presidential Pools amp; Spas as our pool builder for their professionalism, design expertise and price. From day one Presidential was enthusiastic and responsive to all of our requests and inquiries
Their designer went over and above to work with us to create a design that was truly unique, functional and beautiful. He was willing to come out to our property for an extensive one-on-one meeting, create an intricate 3D model of the design and go through several rounds of modifications to help us arrive at something that we were thrilled about
Lastly, Presidental was able to do all of these things at a price that was very competitive to other quotes that we had received.
What do you like most about your pool now?
The thing that we like most about our pool now is how unique the overall design is while still maintaining functionality.
We’ve never seen a pool that looks quite like ours from the custom rain sheer to the sunken kitchen. It’s these features that make the pool such a great fit for our family and something that serves as the centerpiece of our home.
